Severe flooding in Lang Son has forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes as heavy rainfall inundates the region. Reports indicate that more than 2,300 households have been affected, with emergency services deploying boats to rescue those trapped and transport their belongings to safety.

On August 23, the water levels along the Ky Cung River rose significantly after hours of continuous rain, with some areas recording over 300 mm of rainfall. The Tràng Định district was particularly hard hit, with over 760 households submerged, some areas experiencing water depths of nearly 3 meters.

The flooding has disrupted local markets, including the Thất Khê market, where traders have been forced to relocate their goods and assets to avoid losses. Many regions within Tràng Định are now isolated due to the flooding, prompting local authorities to use boats to deliver essential supplies to affected residents.

Emergency responders, including local police and military personnel, have been mobilized to assist with the evacuation and rescue efforts. In one instance, police helped to rescue a mother and her child trapped in deep water in the Lương Văn Tri area.

As of now, approximately 600 landslides and flooding incidents have been recorded across the province, severely impacting transportation. National Route 4B has suffered multiple landslides, causing significant damage to the road and halting traffic.

Authorities have deployed 2,358 military personnel and local militia to support flood response efforts. Continued heavy rainfall is expected until August 24, with forecasts predicting an additional 100-200 mm of rain, raising concerns about further flooding and landslides. Residents in low-lying areas and near rivers are advised to relocate to safer locations.
