A weather forecast warns of heavy rainfall across 11 northern provinces in Vietnam over the next two days,

Hurricane Isaias, which made landfall on Friday night in the Florida Panhandle as a Category 2 hurricane, has left a trail of destruction in its wake. With wind gusts exceeding 110 mph recorded in various locations, the storm has resulted in over 850,000 customers losing power. Although Isaias is now classified as "post-tropical," it still poses significant threats, including flash flooding and strong winds, as it moves inland through the Southeast.
The most pressing concern following Isaias' landfall is the risk of flash flooding, particularly in areas of the Southeast. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue through Saturday night, especially in the foothills of the Appalachians, covering regions from eastern and northern Georgia to upstate South Carolina, western North Carolina, and western Virginia. These areas are at the highest risk for flash flooding, particularly in hilly or mountainous terrains.
In addition to flooding, wind gusts capable of causing tree damage and further power outages are expected to persist through early Sunday in parts of the Southeast, particularly where high wind warnings are in effect. Gusts in the Smoky Mountains could reach between 60 to 70 mph, with the saturated ground increasing the likelihood of fallen trees.
There is also a threat of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes across Georgia, the eastern Florida Panhandle, and into the Carolinas. This threat is common with the remnants of former tropical storms and hurricanes. Isolated tornadoes and strong wind gusts are anticipated to continue into Sunday.
Residents in affected areas are advised to prepare for potential power outages that may last several hours or even days. It is crucial to avoid flood-prone areas and refrain from driving through flooded roads. Local officials will provide updates on when it is safe to return to impacted areas along the Gulf Coast.
Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin, Florida, with sustained winds of 105 mph, and the highest recorded gust was 116 mph in Santa Rosa Sound. The storm has prompted emergency responses and warnings across the affected regions as communities brace for the aftermath.
