The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning regarding heavy rainfall expected in the northern mountainous and midland regions of Vietnam over the next two days. Rainfall amounts could exceed 250 mm in some areas, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides.
From the evening of June 27 to June 28, scattered showers and thunderstorms are predicted, with rainfall between 10 to 30 mm, and localized heavy rain exceeding 60 mm. Following this, from the night of June 28 to the morning of June 30, the northern mountainous and midland regions may experience a significant rainfall event, with expected rainfall of 50 to 120 mm, and in some places, it could exceed 250 mm.
The affected provinces include Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Son La, Lai Chau, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, and Dien Bien. Due to the anticipated heavy rains, there is a high risk of flash floods and landslides in these areas, along with localized flooding in low-lying and urban regions.
This heavy rainfall is attributed to a low-pressure trough moving from southern China, which has ended a prolonged heatwave that lasted from June 17 to June 25. The trough is expected to remain active in northern Vietnam until the end of June, bringing continued showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the northern mountainous and midland areas. As a result, there are no signs of a return to hot weather in the northern regions in the coming days.
