Vu Dinh Hung, the Director of the Tuyen Quang Department of Education and Training, has been suspended from his position as of August 10, 2023, following a cheating scandal related to the high school graduation exams at a specialized school. The decision was signed by Phan Huy Ngoc, the Chairman of Tuyen Quang Province, on August 9, 2023, based on a recommendation from the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission and the conclusions of the Provincial Party Standing Committee.

The suspension will last for no more than 30 days, during which Do Anh Tuan, the Vice Chairman of the Tuyen Quang People's Committee, will oversee the responsibilities previously held by Hung. At 48 years old, Hung is originally from Phu Tho and has a background in education management, holding a doctorate in Educational Management and a master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), with expertise in teaching Mathematics and Information Technology.

The cheating incident gained attention when, on July 1, it was revealed that over 290 out of 328 students from the Tuyen Quang Specialized High School scored 9 or above in Mathematics, with approximately 140 achieving perfect scores. This was considered unusual as it surpassed the performance of many well-known specialized schools across the country.

The Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Agency has preliminarily identified collusion among parents, students, and teachers. Some teachers admitted to entering exam rooms to assist students, while a number of students acknowledged exchanging answers, although these claims have not yet been fully verified. As of now, 29 individuals have been prosecuted, with 7 in custody on charges of abusing their positions and powers while performing official duties.

Authorities have also decided to annul the graduation exam scores from June 11-12 for those involved and will conduct retests for all subjects. Students who violated the rules, if any, will face consequences following the official investigation results.
