Vietnam Announces Lunar New Year Holiday Schedule for 2027
Vietnam's government has confirmed a seven-day holiday for the Lunar New Year in 2027, starting from January

Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has officially approved a 7-day holiday for Tet Nguyen Dan in 2027, providing citizens with an extended period to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The holiday will commence on February 4, 2027, and last until February 10, 2027, encompassing both the traditional Tet celebrations and additional days off to facilitate travel and preparations.
The decision was communicated through a document outlining holiday plans for 2026 and 2027. The 7-day break includes five days for Tet celebrations and two additional days off to accommodate the weekly rest days. This arrangement aims to ease the travel burden for individuals working far from their hometowns, allowing them more time to shop, clean, and prepare for the holiday.
In addition to the holiday schedule, the Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed various government agencies, political organizations, and businesses to ensure continuous operations during this period. They are encouraged to implement measures that stabilize production and business activities, maintain the supply of goods and services, and ensure market stability before, during, and after the holiday.
The two additional days before Tet are designed to reduce traffic congestion, particularly in major urban areas and transport hubs. This holiday plan balances the need for workers to rest and the necessity of maintaining administrative and economic activities. The end of the holiday on February 10, 2027, will allow organizations and businesses to resume operations promptly, promoting productivity and economic growth right from the start of the year.
