Massive Turnout for Pham Nhat Vuong's $20 Billion Project in Ha Long

On October 11, 2026, a record-breaking event took place in Ha Long, Vietnam, as the Global Gate Halong ESG++ Marathon gathered over 15,000 runners. With the slogan "Run Among Wonders - Touch the Record - Run for Net Zero," this marathon not only encouraged personal achievements but also aimed to set a Vietnamese record for the largest number of participants wearing Net Zero message shirts.

The marathon was held at the Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long, a monumental project initiated by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, which commenced construction in December 2025. This ambitious development spans approximately 6,220 hectares and is projected to accommodate around 380,000 residents, with a total investment estimated at 515.5 trillion VND (approximately $20 billion).

Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long is strategically located to connect key transportation infrastructures and is part of the future development plans for high-speed rail and expressways in the northeastern region of Vietnam. The project is expected to become a new growth hub, driving economic, commercial, service, and tourism sectors.

The marathon served as a platform to showcase Vietnam's commitment to combating climate change, with participants running through the stunning natural landscapes of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event aimed to spread national pride and a strong environmental message to the international community.

Among the notable features of the Vinhomes Global Gate project is the Lagoon system, covering approximately 680 hectares, which will utilize 100% natural seawater and white sand. This system is designed to create a beach-like experience within the urban area, enhancing the overall living environment.

Additionally, the project includes the Wonder Mangroves, an 800-hectare fishing park aimed at preserving the existing natural mangrove ecosystem. With various amenities such as golf courses, entertainment venues, and commercial centers, Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long is set to redefine urban living in the region.

The first phases of this extensive urban area are expected to be operational by 2028, with investors committed to ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion of the project.
