Phạm Nhật Vượng, the founder of Vingroup and Vietnam's first billionaire, is making headlines with his ambitious project, Vinhomes Green Paradise, located in Cần Giờ, Ho Chi Minh City. This initiative marks the first time a city is being developed under the ESG++ framework, which expands traditional environmental, social, and governance criteria by adding two new dimensions: regeneration and resilience.
According to a recent article by IBTimes, Vinhomes Green Paradise spans approximately 2,870 hectares and represents a total investment of around $10 billion. The project is designed to incorporate a variety of components, including renewable energy systems, water resource management, and biodiversity conservation, all while aiming for top-tier certifications such as BREEAM and ISO 37122.
The city is set to operate primarily on offshore wind energy, with a projected capacity of nearly 600 MW. This renewable energy source will help ensure a stable power supply for the entire urban area, significantly contributing to the goal of achieving net-zero emissions. Additionally, the project includes a comprehensive energy storage system to maintain a consistent power supply and reduce reliance on the national grid.
Vinhomes Green Paradise is also focused on creating a fully integrated urban ecosystem, featuring healthcare, education, sports, and public amenities, rather than standalone products. The use of smart technologies, including artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, is planned to optimize energy consumption, traffic management, and urban services.
After more than a year of construction, over 76% of the project's earthworks have been completed. Recent reports indicate that significant progress has been made, with thousands of workers and machinery actively developing various components of the urban area. The project is on track to establish a model of a self-sufficient energy city, aligning with global trends in urban development.
As Vinhomes Green Paradise continues to take shape, it promises to set a new standard for sustainable urban living, showcasing Phạm Nhật Vượng's commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
