Vietnam to Build World's Largest Artificial Lagoon in $10 Billion Project

Vietnam is embarking on an ambitious project to create the world's largest artificial lagoon, known as Paradise Lagoon, as part of the $10 billion coastal urban development project called Vinhomes Green Paradise. This extensive project, covering an area of 2,870 hectares, is located in the coastal region of Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City, and is expected to redefine the landscape of urban living and tourism in the area.

The Paradise Lagoon will span 800 hectares and will be equipped with a state-of-the-art water filtration system capable of processing 100,000 cubic meters of seawater per hour. This system will ensure the lagoon maintains optimal water quality, salinity, and clarity, meeting international resort standards. During the dry season, seawater will be directly channeled from the ocean into the lagoon, while a continuous filtration process will be implemented during the rainy season to sustain the ecosystem.

Designed to provide a luxurious experience, the lagoon will feature sandy beaches, various depths for recreational activities, and private beach areas for villa residents. It is projected to attract between 8 to 9 million domestic and international tourists annually, making it a premier destination in Southeast Asia.

In addition to the lagoon, the Vinhomes Green Paradise project will include several large-scale facilities, such as the Blue Waves Theatre, a five-star international marina capable of accommodating super yachts, luxury hotels, and two international-standard golf courses. This development is set to establish a new benchmark for coastal urban living in Vietnam.

Construction of the project commenced on April 19, 2025, and is being led by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, who aims to create a vibrant urban environment that harmonizes with nature while providing high-quality living standards for its residents.
