The International Sports Urban Area in Hanoi is undergoing significant development, covering approximately 1,367 hectares. Out of this, over 1,111 hectares have received approval for compensation plans, amounting to around 8,534 billion VND. This project, spearheaded by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, is part of a larger initiative that includes the construction of the world's largest stadium, VinFast - Dong Da, which will accommodate around 135,000 spectators.
As of October 7, 2026, the local authorities have reported substantial progress in land recovery efforts, having reclaimed 1,283.7 hectares of agricultural land, which represents 94.03% of the total area designated for the project. The project aims to develop a sports city and service area integrated with an international sports complex.
The stadium itself is designed to meet FIFA standards, featuring the largest retractable roof system in the world. The overall investment for the project is estimated at 925 trillion VND, and it is expected to create thousands of jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region.
In addition to the sports urban area, a multi-purpose urban project in Tam Hung is also in progress, with plans to recover around 323.08 hectares of land affecting nearly 3,000 households. Local officials are actively working on compensation policies and community meetings to inform residents about the project's significance and benefits.
This ambitious project not only highlights the potential for urban development in Vietnam but also positions the country as a key player in the international sports arena.
