The Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs has submitted a proposal to the government for a one-day holiday on November 24, 2026, to celebrate the Cultural Day of Vietnam. This holiday will not involve any changes to the work schedule. According to the proposal, this year's Cultural Day falls on a Tuesday, allowing workers to enjoy a paid day off.

Initially, the ministry considered swapping the workday on Monday, November 23, with Saturday, November 28, to create a continuous four-day break from November 21 to 24, 2026. However, after reviewing feedback and practical requirements, the ministry now recommends that civil servants and employees take a day off on Tuesday, November 24, without altering the work calendar. This schedule will also apply to workers in the business sector.

The rationale behind this proposal is that at the end of November, various agencies and units are focused on completing their annual work programs and plans. Businesses are also accelerating production, delivery, and business planning in preparation for the upcoming year. By maintaining the holiday on the designated day without any swaps, the proposal aims to ensure a stable workflow during the year-end period, especially for companies operating in shifts or continuous production.

The proposal notes that this arrangement will allow citizens to participate in cultural activities while supporting business development and maintaining administrative operations. This year's Cultural Day holiday is set for November 24.

Additionally, the proposal for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2027 remains unchanged, extending for seven days from the 28th day of the last month of the Year of the Horse to the end of the 5th day of the first month of the Year of the Goat (February 4 to February 10, 2027). Civil servants will return to work on the 6th day of the Lunar New Year. For the National Day in 2027, civil servants will have a day off on September 3, creating a continuous four-day holiday from September 2 to September 5, 2027.

Currently, Vietnam has 12 public holidays with paid leave, including one day for New Year's Day, five days for the Lunar New Year, one day for Hung Kings' Commemoration, one day for April 30, one day for May 1, two days for National Day, and one day for Cultural Day.
