The Tuyen Quang Provincial Police have officially launched a criminal investigation and detained Nguyen Ha Duy, a 25-year-old teacher at Tuyen Quang Specialized High School, for allegedly abusing his authority during the execution of his duties. This action follows the alarming discovery of numerous students receiving perfect scores in mathematics on the national high school graduation exam held in 2026.

On July 6, 2026, authorities took urgent measures to detain Duy as part of their investigation into the suspiciously high scores reported at the Tuyen Quang exam center. Reports indicated that out of 329 students registered to take the mathematics exam, only 328 participated, yet an astonishing 146 students achieved perfect scores of 10.

In response to the growing concerns, the Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau convened a meeting to address the organization of the high school graduation exam in Tuyen Quang. He emphasized the seriousness of the matter, which not only impacts the education sector but also the broader society. The Deputy Prime Minister has mandated that the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee collaborate to thoroughly investigate the violations and enforce strict penalties.

On July 4, the Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee submitted an urgent report to the Prime Minister regarding the organization of the high school graduation exam, highlighting the irregularities in the mathematics results.
