In a significant development in Tuyen Quang, local police have detained Nguyen Ha Duy, a teacher at Tuyen Quang Specialized High School, as part of an investigation into suspiciously high scores in the national high school graduation exam. This action was taken on July 5, following reports of irregularities in the math exam results.
The Tuyen Quang police initiated the investigation after media reports highlighted an alarming trend: out of 154 perfect scores of 10 in mathematics, 147 were concentrated among a consecutive range of candidate numbers from 328 students. This unusual distribution raised red flags regarding the legitimacy of the results.
According to police data, the group of 328 students exhibited an exceptionally high average score of 9.55. The statistics revealed that approximately 1 in every 2.2 students achieved a perfect score. Furthermore, an impressive 91.16% of these students scored 9.0 or above, while nearly 98.78% scored 8.0 or higher. Notably, there were no students with below-average scores, with the lowest recorded score being 6, and only a few students scoring between 7 and 7.75.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to clarify the circumstances surrounding these results and ensure compliance with legal standards. The case has sparked widespread discussion about the examination process and the measures in place to uphold academic integrity.
