Hanoi is bracing for heavy rainfall on September 15, with predictions indicating that many areas in northern Vietnam will face the risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides. According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, intense rain is currently affecting several provinces in the northern and north-central regions.

From September 15 to 16, heavy rain is expected to continue and may even intensify in various locations. In particular, the provinces of Bac Ninh and the former Hoa Binh area are forecasted to receive between 100-250mm of rain, with some areas exceeding 400mm. The southern part of Lao Cai, including the former Yen Bai province, is likely to see rainfall ranging from 70-150mm. Notably, Hưng Yên, Ninh Bình, southern Phú Thọ, and Thanh Hóa could experience rainfall between 200-400mm, with localized areas potentially receiving over 500mm.

In Hanoi, the rainfall on September 15 is expected to be between 100-250mm, with some southern parts of the city receiving over 250mm. Meteorological authorities have issued warnings about urban flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.

As of September 15, water levels in rivers from Quang Tri to Hue are decreasing, generally below warning level 1, except for the Bo River in Hue, which is at warning level 1. Rivers in the northern region, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An are also currently below warning level 1.

Additionally, from September 15 to 16, rivers in southern Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An are likely to experience a flood wave. The peak flood levels on the Bo River in Phu Tho, Hoang Long River in Ninh Binh, and upstream of the Buoi, Ma, and Chu rivers in Thanh Hoa may reach warning levels 1 to 2, with some rivers possibly exceeding warning level 2. The upstream of the Ca River in Nghe An is expected to rise above warning level 1.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting has warned that Phu Tho, including the former Hoa Binh area, along with Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Tri, are at high to very high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous and steep slope areas.
