Central Vietnam is set to experience a significant weather event as heavy rains are forecasted from the evening of September 11 through September 14. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has indicated that the provinces of Ha Tinh, Hue, Quang Tri, and Da Nang will be particularly affected, with rainfall amounts potentially exceeding 800 mm in some locations.

On September 11, rainfall was already recorded in the region, with some areas experiencing intense downpours. For example, the Da Liêu station in Ha Tinh reported 102 mm, while the Bach Ma station in Hue recorded 137.2 mm. The forecast predicts that from the evening of September 11 to September 12, the areas from Ha Tinh to Da Nang, as well as eastern Quang Ngai, will see widespread rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 mm, with localized areas receiving over 200 mm.

As the weather system develops, heavy rain is expected to continue, with forecasts suggesting that from September 12 to 13, rainfall in the Ha Tinh to Da Nang corridor could reach between 70 and 150 mm, with some areas exceeding 250 mm. The provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, along with eastern Quang Ngai, are also expected to receive significant rainfall, generally between 20 and 40 mm, with localized spots reaching above 70 mm.

From September 13 to 14, the rainfall is projected to intensify, particularly in the Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri region, where totals could range from 100 to 200 mm, and some areas could see over 300 mm. This heavy rainfall is predicted to persist until the morning of September 16.

In addition to the heavy rains, the Central Meteorological Agency has warned of the potential for tropical depression formation in the East Sea over the next two days. The Bạch Long Vỹ special zone has already reported winds at level 6, with gusts reaching level 7. The northern East Sea, including the Hoang Sa special zone, and the southern East Sea, including the Truong Sa special zone, are also expected to experience rain and thunderstorms.

The public is advised to stay updated on weather conditions and prepare for possible flooding and landslides in the affected areas as the heavy rains approach.
