The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has announced that thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in Central and Southern Vietnam this evening, September 8, 2026. Some regions may experience rainfall exceeding 70mm.

Earlier today, scattered rain and thunderstorms were reported in the Central Highlands and the southeastern regions. The forecast indicates that from Quang Tri to Da Nang, as well as the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, will see scattered rain and thunderstorms with rainfall between 10 to 30mm, and localized areas may experience heavy rain exceeding 50mm.

In the Central Highlands, rainfall is expected to range from 15 to 30mm, with some areas potentially receiving over 70mm. The thunderstorms may also bring strong winds, lightning, hail, and gusty conditions, posing a level 1 risk of natural disasters.

This severe weather could adversely affect agricultural production, causing tree damage, property destruction, and impacting transportation infrastructure. Heavy localized rainfall may lead to flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.

As the weather system develops, residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period of inclement weather.
