Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Tonight

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain expected tonight, July 7. The northern mountainous regions, Central Highlands, and southern provinces are likely to see scattered thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall.

As of today, rainfall recorded from 7 AM to 3 PM on July 7 has reached over 40mm in certain locations, such as Ya Tờ Mốt in Dak Lak and Mỹ Xuân in Ho Chi Minh City, which recorded 45.6mm.

Forecasts for tonight indicate that the northern mountainous areas, Central Highlands, and southern regions will experience scattered thunderstorms with rainfall ranging from 10 to 30mm, and localized areas may see rainfall exceeding 70mm.

During thunderstorms, there is a risk of whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong winds. The risk level for natural disasters due to whirlwinds, lightning, and hail is classified as level 1.

The heavy rainfall may impact agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damaging homes, and affecting transportation infrastructure. Additionally, localized heavy rain could lead to flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.

From the evening of July 8 until around July 13, the northern region is expected to continue experiencing scattered thunderstorms, particularly in the evenings and at night.
