Alstom Partners with Vingroup for Hanoi Metro Project

Alstom, a global leader in rail transport, has entered into a strategic partnership with Vinhomes, a subsidiary of the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, to supply 200 Metropolis train sets for the metro system in Hanoi. This significant agreement combines French manufacturing expertise with a technology transfer initiative aimed at bolstering Vietnam's local rail infrastructure.

The partnership outlines that 83 of the Metropolis train sets, each consisting of five cars, will be designed and manufactured directly at Alstom's facility in Valenciennes Petite-Forêt, which serves as the company's center of expertise for metro systems. Additionally, a technology licensing agreement allows Vingroup to assemble 117 more train sets in Vietnam using components supplied by Alstom.

This collaboration is a strategic move for Vingroup, as it seeks to develop a robust local railway ecosystem. The partnership aligns with Hanoi's master plan, which envisions the deployment of an extensive urban railway network comprising 18 lines and covering a total of 979 kilometers by the year 2045. This ambitious project marks a significant step towards enhancing the city's public transportation capabilities and supporting its rapid urbanization.

As Vietnam continues to grow economically, partnerships like this one are crucial for modernizing infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its citizens. The collaboration between Alstom and Vingroup not only signifies a commitment to advancing local industry but also highlights the importance of sustainable urban transport solutions in the region.
