The Cần Thơ People's Council has approved a resolution that will provide financial support to families during the Tet Nguyên Đán festival from 2026 to 2030. According to Resolution 48/2025/NQ-HĐND, families with members who qualify for certain government assistance will receive a monetary gift of 1,000,000 VND.

This initiative is part of a broader policy aimed at supporting veterans and their families, as well as poor and near-poor households. Specifically, families that include individuals recognized as having contributed to the revolution or those who are relatives of martyrs will be eligible for this support.

Under the resolution, the city will also provide higher amounts to specific groups, such as 2,000,000 VND for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and individuals with significant disabilities due to war. The distribution of these gifts will be managed by local leaders from various government bodies, ensuring that those who have served the country or are in need receive the assistance they deserve.

Notably, the policy stipulates that if an individual qualifies for multiple types of assistance, they will only receive the highest amount available. For those who honor multiple martyrs, the gifts will be allocated per martyr.

The resolution emphasizes that these benefits are specifically for residents of Cần Thơ and outlines the various categories of individuals who are recognized as having contributed to the revolution. This includes those who were active in the revolutionary movement before January 1, 1945, as well as veterans and their families.

In addition to the financial gifts, the policy provides a range of benefits for veterans and their families, including healthcare, rehabilitation support, and preferential treatment in education and employment opportunities. These measures are designed to improve the quality of life for those who have served the nation and their dependents.
