Hanoi Allocates Over 10 Billion VND for National Day Gifts

Hanoi has announced a plan to distribute a total of 10.3 billion VND in gifts to individuals with contributions to the nation, as part of the celebrations for Vietnam's National Day on September 2. This initiative coincides with the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and aims to honor those who have served the country and their families.

According to Plan 283/KH-UBND dated July 16, the city will provide 2,107 gift packages, with amounts ranging from 3 million to 27 million VND. Notably, individuals who participated in revolutionary activities before January 1, 1945, and those involved from January 1, 1945, until the August Revolution will receive 10 million VND each in cash. Others, such as those who were imprisoned or exiled for their revolutionary activities, will receive 3 million VND along with a commemorative medal or certificate recognizing their contributions.

In addition to the planned gifts, local authorities will select two exemplary families from each district to visit and provide additional support. Each selected family will receive a total of 12 million VND, which includes 10 million VND in cash and a gift valued at 2 million VND. The local governments are tasked with ensuring that the selection process is transparent and that the gifts reach the intended recipients by September 1.

Furthermore, the city plans to visit notable revolutionary sites across seven districts, with each site receiving a gift valued at 27 million VND, which includes 25 million VND in cash. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote awareness and education about the country's revolutionary history during this significant time.

The funding for these activities will come from the city budget, as well as contributions from local communities. The implementation of Plan 283 is based on Resolution 16/2026/NQ-HĐND from the Hanoi People's Council, which outlines the gift amounts for various occasions throughout the year.

In the coming weeks, local authorities will continue to review lists, prepare funds, and organize visits to ensure that all activities are completed before the National Day celebrations.
