These strategic routes are the second and third sections of an expressway connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Ca Mau province in the Mekong Delta, which is part of a master plan for transport infrastructure, economic development, defense, and security in the southwestern region. The expressway connects major economic hubs, industrial parks, and processing factories.

“The My Thuan-Can Tho express section must be completed in 2022. It reflects our determination to honor a government mandate on the Mekong Delta comprehensive development, which covers transportation and irrigation,” said PM Phuc.
