Traffic Accident Victims to Receive Up to 100 Million VND in Aid

Victims suffering severe injuries from traffic accidents in Vietnam will be eligible for financial assistance of up to 100 million VND (approximately $4,300) under a new policy set to take effect on September 1. The Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security announced this initiative on August 13, aiming to provide support to those affected by road traffic accidents.

The fund will assist victims who have sustained injuries greater than 81%, as well as families of deceased victims who are experiencing economic difficulties. Additionally, organizations and individuals who directly participate in rescuing victims or providing emergency care will also be eligible for financial support.

According to the regulations outlined in Decree No. 279, victims with injuries between 31% and 81% may receive up to 10 million VND per incident, while families of deceased victims can receive up to 20 million VND. The maximum support for those severely injured is set at 100 million VND per individual.

Organizations providing assistance can receive up to 10 million VND, while individuals can receive up to 5 million VND per incident. Furthermore, activities aimed at raising awareness about reducing traffic accident damages that are not funded by the state can also receive support, with similar maximum amounts available.

The specific amount of aid will depend on the case's details and legal regulations. Eligible organizations and individuals can submit their applications online, in person, or via postal services. The responsible agency is required to verify the validity of applications within two working days.

Authorities will actively review and identify cases eligible for support, ensuring that the aid reaches those in need. The Traffic Police Department emphasized that this initiative not only aims to alleviate the hardships faced by victims and their families but also seeks to mobilize additional social resources and promote a spirit of mutual assistance in building a safer traffic environment.
