Tay Do teacher shows off her talent to “make up” for Tet fruits, everyone will love them when they see them
Fruit products and soft drink cans are painted by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nga (Binh Thuy district, Can Tho) with calligraphy and spring flower motifs.
Ms. Nga is an English teacher at Vo Truong Toan Primary School. She said that she loves calligraphy and she also takes calligraphy classes online. During the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic in July 2021, she came up with the idea of ”makeup”, “putting on new clothes” for fruits for Tet.
The fruits chosen for painting are coconut and pomelo because of the long distillation time. Items when cleaned will paint 2 layers of paint, white and yellow.
In the center of the fruit, Ms. Nga draws a red circle, which is the background for writing calligraphy.
The words on the fruit often carry the meaning of luck and good wishes such as Tai – Loc; Happy life. The writing is finished when the color is not dry, it will be covered with gold glitter to make the fruit more shimmering. Finally, Ms. Nga sprayed a layer of lock paint to make the fruit more durable and glossy.
The next stage is to “make up” the product with motifs such as flowers, mascots of 12 zodiac animals according to the year.
Because she has to teach, Ms. Nga cannot spend full time decorating fruits for Tet. One day she can make 2 pairs of coconuts or pomelos.
This Tet, she created more than 10 pairs of coconuts and pomelos, priced from 200,000-250,000 VND/pair.($1=24,000 VND)
In addition, she also painted 50 Tet holiday panels, the price ranging from 100,000-150,000 VND/piece, depending on the size.
