On the night of August 23, a series of large boulders rolled down from a mountain in Chi Lang, Lang Son, causing significant damage to residential homes and prompting urgent evacuations. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM along Le Loi Road in the Hop Tien hamlet, where the rocks traveled approximately 300 meters, with some crashing directly into houses.

In one two-story home, a boulder collapsed part of the porch, while another stone penetrated the house and rolled into the living room, damaging numerous belongings. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but many residents suffered property losses.

Local authorities, including the Chi Lang People's Committee, acted quickly to evacuate 14 households from the danger zone to safer locations. The following morning, officials continued to assess the situation, identifying landslide areas and evaluating the level of risk.

Residents have been advised to avoid the area affected by the landslides. According to reports from Lang Son province, heavy rainfall has resulted in one fatality as of 5 PM on August 23. The victim, a 24-year-old man named D.P.H., was buried under rubble when a landslide caused his home to collapse.

The prolonged heavy rains have severely impacted homes and infrastructure across the province, with over 4,030 houses and auxiliary structures reported as affected. Among these, more than 360 homes suffered roof damage or destruction due to landslides, while 3,620 houses were flooded, leading to extensive property damage.

Areas such as That Khe, Trang Dinh, Na Sam, Van Lang, and various wards including Dong Kinh, Tam Thanh, Ky Lua, and Luong Van Tri have experienced significant flooding, severely disrupting the daily lives of residents. In Ky Lua ward alone, around 1,300 households operating businesses at Giếng Vuông and Bản Ngà markets were affected by rising floodwaters.

The province's transportation infrastructure has also been heavily impacted, with over 900 points of landslides and flooding reported on various roads, leading to localized isolation and complicating rescue and relief efforts. In response to the ongoing severe weather, Lang Son province has organized the evacuation of more than 2,625 households from areas at high risk of deep flooding and landslides. Emergency services have directly assisted approximately 1,300 households and business owners in moving people, goods, and belongings to safer areas.
