HCMC breaks ground on VND3.4-trillion interchange
HCMC – The VND3.4-trillion An Phu interchange project got off the ground this morning, December 29, to ease

The Tan Van interchange, located in Dong Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, is a significant construction project on the city's Ring Road 3. It is designed as a three-level interchange with five overpass branches connecting to National Highway 1A and the My Phuoc-Tan Van road. This interchange is strategically positioned at the border of three localities: Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai Province, and the former Binh Duong area.
The construction of the Tan Van interchange is progressing rapidly, with the aim to complete it by the end of December 2026. The project spans approximately 2.5 kilometers and has an investment of over 1.83 trillion VND. Construction began in May 2024, and the site is bustling with activity, with workers and machinery operating even during lunch breaks to meet the tight schedule.
The location of the interchange is crucial, as it sits on National Highway 1A and serves as a major route to Binh Duong and container ports, resulting in a high volume of traffic. This necessitates an expedited construction pace to ensure timely completion. The interchange's complexity is highlighted by its multiple connections, including two additional levels designed to accommodate projected traffic volumes.
As the main bridge's beams are being installed, construction teams are also focusing on the overpass branches to ensure that all components come together seamlessly. The Tan Van interchange is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in the region once completed, addressing the current congestion issues and enhancing connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces.
