Quang Lê Reflects on Relationships After Mother's Funeral

Quang Lê, a well-known Vietnamese singer, recently opened up about his feelings following the funeral of his mother, who passed away on August 3 at the age of 73. During a heartfelt conversation with his close friend Mai Thiên Vân, he shared how the experience allowed him to discern the true nature of some relationships in his life.

In a post on his personal social media, Quang Lê stated, "At this moment, I realize who truly cares for me." He reflected on the absence of certain individuals he once considered close friends, noting that even a simple gesture, like a condolence message or a flower arrangement, would have sufficed.

Quang Lê's family chose not to accept monetary donations during the funeral, honoring his mother's wishes to avoid feeling indebted to others. They only accepted flower arrangements as a way to receive love and condolences from friends and family. Despite the emotional turmoil of the situation, Quang Lê expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received, including over 10,000 condolence messages and numerous flower arrangements sent from various places, including Vietnam.

Reflecting on his relationships, Quang Lê admitted, "Through my mother's funeral, I have measured the hearts of some people I thought were very close. I have misjudged them. If we meet on stage, it will just be a casual greeting. I don’t feel the need to develop those friendships further." He emphasized the importance of having sincere friends like Mai Thiên Vân, stating, "People are right; you only need true friends, not acquaintances."

The funeral, held on August 15, was a solemn occasion, and Quang Lê took the time to livestream his appreciation for those who supported him during this difficult period. He walked around the funeral home, acknowledging the names of those who sent flowers, expressing his heartfelt thanks.
