Nguyễn Đức Tâm, aged 45, has been elected as the new Chairman of the People's Committee of Quảng Ngãi Province for the term 2026-2031. The decision was made by the Provincial People's Council on July 28, 2023, as Tâm takes over from Nguyễn Hoàng Giang, who has been reassigned by the Politburo to serve as Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Department.

In his inaugural speech, Tâm emphasized his commitment to mobilizing resources effectively to achieve double-digit growth, prioritizing the happiness of the residents as a key measure of success. He stated that his administration would focus on ensuring smooth operations within the two-tier local government model, streamlining the administrative apparatus, and enhancing discipline and service quality for citizens and businesses.

Tâm outlined several priorities for his term, including strategic infrastructure investment, digital transformation, and administrative reform. He also highlighted the importance of developing education, healthcare, social welfare, and high-quality human resources in Quảng Ngãi.

Before his election as Chairman, Tâm was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025-2030. He has an extensive background in economic management, having worked at the Ministry of Planning and Investment since 2003, where he held various positions including Deputy Director of the Business Registration Management Department and Director of the National Economic General Department. In October 2024, he was appointed as Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment and later became Deputy Minister of Finance after the merger of the two ministries in early 2025.

With a master's degree in economics, Tâm hails from Hưng Yên and is poised to lead Quảng Ngãi towards a prosperous future.
