Lê Quang Tùng, aged 55 and previously the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, has officially taken on the role of Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party for the 2025-2030 term. This decision was announced at a conference held by the An Giang Provincial Party Committee on July 25, 2023, attended by prominent officials including Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a member of the Politburo and Head of the Central Organization Department.

During the conference, Nguyễn Thành Tâm, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, announced the decisions made by the Politburo. As part of the reshuffle, Nguyễn Tiến Hải, the former Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party, has been appointed as the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Lê Quang Tùng's appointment marks a significant shift in leadership within the province.

In his acceptance speech, Lê Quang Tùng expressed his deep honor and acknowledged the heavy responsibilities that come with his new position. He emphasized his commitment to uphold the principles of the Party, adhere strictly to the leadership and directives from the Central Government, and foster unity and dedication among the leadership and citizens of An Giang.

Tùng's extensive background includes a Doctorate in Economic Management and a Bachelor’s degree in English, alongside a career that spans various significant roles in government. He has previously served as the Director of the Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources, and Environment at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and has held several leadership positions in Quang Ninh and Quang Tri provinces.

His appointment comes at a time when the Central Government is focusing on strengthening local leadership to better serve the interests of the people and enhance governance across the nation. Tùng expressed his hope for continued support from the Central Government and collaboration with local leaders and citizens in An Giang.
