Cold Air Mass to Bring Heavy Rain to Northern Vietnam

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning regarding the impact of a weak cold air mass that is set to affect Northern Vietnam. Starting from October 10, regions including Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and Hung Yen will see scattered rain and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall.

On October 10, the weather in Hanoi is forecasted to include scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain possible. Winds will be coming from the northeast at levels 2 to 3, and temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius, reaching a maximum of around 29 degrees.

Rainfall has already been significant in some areas, with reports from the previous night indicating heavy rain from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri, with some locations recording over 150 mm of rain. For instance, the border station 571 in Ha Tinh recorded 152.2 mm, while Hóa Thanh in Quang Tri saw an impressive 414.0 mm.

As the day progresses, rainfall is expected to continue across the region from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai, with anticipated precipitation ranging from 40-80 mm, and localized areas possibly exceeding 150 mm.

Looking ahead, the weather forecast for Hanoi over the next ten days indicates that on the night of October 10 and during the day on October 11, there will be scattered rain and thunderstorms, with sunny weather expected during the day. From October 11 to 19, there will be occasional rain at night and sunny weather during the day.

The cold air mass is expected to bring temperatures in the northern provinces and Thanh Hoa ranging from 19-22 degrees Celsius, while higher mountainous areas may see temperatures drop to between 14-17 degrees.
