According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Hanoi is set to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon of October 9. Some areas may see heavy rainfall, while Central Vietnam is under a severe weather warning with expected rainfall exceeding 300mm in certain locations.
The forecast indicates a distinct weather pattern across the country on October 9. The northern region will maintain a cool atmosphere during the night and early morning, with sunny spells during the day. In contrast, Central Vietnam will continue to endure widespread heavy rain. Specifically, the area from Ha Tinh to the northern part of Quang Tri province is predicted to receive heavy to very heavy rain, with common rainfall amounts between 50-100mm and localized areas exceeding 150mm.
From the southern part of Quang Tri to Hue City, rainfall is expected to be between 100-200mm, with some areas potentially exceeding 300mm. In Da Nang and the eastern part of Quang Ngai province, heavy rain is also anticipated, with common rainfall between 30-70mm and localized instances over 120mm.
The meteorological agency warns that Central Vietnam may experience intense rainfall exceeding 100mm within three hours, leading to flooding in low-lying areas, urban regions, and industrial zones. This situation also raises the risk of flash floods in small rivers and landslides in mountainous areas.
In Hanoi, the forecast for October 9 suggests cloudy conditions with scattered rain and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon. Northeasterly winds are expected at levels 2-3, with nighttime temperatures dropping to between 22-24 degrees Celsius and daytime highs reaching 29-31 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms may bring the possibility of whirlwinds, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.
