Heavy Rain Forecast for Da Nang and Surrounding Areas

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has reported that heavy rain is expected to impact Da Nang and surrounding regions in the coming days. From October 9, significant rainfall is anticipated in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces as well.

On the night of October 7 and the morning of October 8, areas from Hue to Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall. The rainfall recorded from 7 PM on October 7 to 7 AM on October 8 exceeded 130mm in some locations, with Giang Hai in Hue measuring 192mm, Tam Tra in Da Nang at 140.6mm, and Chau O in Quang Ngai at 136.6mm.

For the day and night of October 8, heavy rain is expected from southern Quang Tri to Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai, with rainfall amounts ranging from 60 to 120mm, and localized areas may see over 200mm. By October 9, rainfall in Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai will begin to decrease.

In addition, on October 8, the western part of Quang Ngai, Gia Lai to Lam Dong, and southern regions will see scattered rain, with average rainfall of 20 to 40mm, and some areas may experience heavy rain exceeding 80mm.

On October 9, heavy rain is forecasted from Ha Tinh to Hue, with rainfall ranging from 70 to 150mm, and localized areas may exceed 250mm. From Thanh Hoa to Nghe An, moderate to heavy rain is expected, with amounts between 40 to 80mm, and some areas may see very heavy rain over 150mm.

Authorities have warned of the risk of heavy rain exceeding 100mm within three hours. By October 10, rain is expected to continue in the region from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, with rainfall ranging from 40 to 70mm, and localized areas may see over 120mm.

The meteorological agency has issued a level 1 natural disaster risk warning due to heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and the potential for flooding in low-lying urban areas and industrial zones, as well as flash floods in small rivers and landslides on steep slopes.
