Cold Front Expected to Hit Northern Vietnam, Temperatures to Drop
A strong cold front is forecasted to arrive in Northern Vietnam, bringing temperatures down by 8-10 degrees

A cold front is forecasted to move into Northern Vietnam, leading to rain and a significant drop in temperatures across the region. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold air mass will begin affecting the northern provinces from October 4, with nighttime temperatures dropping to between 14 and 17 degrees Celsius in higher mountainous areas.
As the cold front approaches, rain showers are expected to start on October 4, with increased intensity by the night of October 5. The temperature in the northern plains will generally range from 19 to 22 degrees Celsius, while mountainous regions will see lower temperatures.
In Hanoi, the cold front will bring rain and thunderstorms starting early on October 5, with the potential for heavy rainfall in some areas. The wind will shift to the northeast, with speeds reaching 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale, causing rough seas in the Gulf of Tonkin.
The cold air mass is anticipated to cause a noticeable temperature drop, especially in the northeastern provinces and Thanh Hoa. The National Center has warned that the rain could lead to severe weather phenomena, including thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds, which may impact agriculture and infrastructure.
From October 4 to 6, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected from Thanh Hoa to Hue, with localized areas experiencing very heavy rainfall. The authorities are advising caution due to the risk of flash floods and landslides in steep areas, as well as potential damage to homes and transportation infrastructure.
As the cold front continues to spread, it is crucial for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions against the adverse weather conditions.
