A tragic accident occurred on September 28 in Ha Tinh when a concrete archway collapsed, severely injuring a third-grade student. The incident took place around 2 PM at the intersection of Ho Chi Minh Road and DH94, where a crane collided with the archway, causing it to topple over.

The victim, Nguyen Duc Thang, was riding on a motorcycle with his mother, Le Thi Giang, when the archway fell on him, resulting in the amputation of his right arm. Fortunately, his mother escaped unharmed.

Emergency responders had to lift the fallen archway to access the boy and transport him, along with his severed arm, to Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital. At the scene, the archway, which featured two large concrete pillars and a horizontal frame, was completely destroyed, leaving debris scattered across the road. A motorcycle was also found severely damaged under the rubble.

The archway was located on DH94, leading into the former Hương Xuân commune, in an area where the road is over six meters wide and lined with residential homes. The crane involved in the incident belonged to a local transport company, and officials stated that this vehicle was not authorized to pass through the village gate.

The incident is currently under investigation as authorities seek to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
