On the morning of September 8, a devastating accident in Dong Nai claimed the lives of a mother and her two daughters as they were on their way to school. The incident took place at the Cổng 11 intersection in Bien Hoa City, where Bùi Thị Hoa, 27, was riding a motorcycle with three children, including two 2-year-olds and a 6-year-old.
At approximately 7:30 AM, their motorcycle collided with a container truck traveling from Long Thanh to Bien Hoa. The impact caused all four individuals on the motorcycle to fall onto the road. Tragically, Bùi Thị Hoa and her two daughters were run over by the rear wheels of the truck and died at the scene. The third child sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Witnesses reported that traffic was heavy at the time of the accident, as it coincided with the morning shift change for many workers in nearby industrial zones. Following the incident, the container truck driver was taken by local residents to the Phước Tân Police Station to report the accident.
The accident caused significant traffic congestion on Võ Nguyên Giáp Road, National Highway 51, and Bùi Văn Hòa Road. By 11 AM, the scene had been cleared, and traffic resumed normal flow.
The Cổng 11 intersection has long been notorious for accidents and traffic jams. Just three months prior, authorities had removed a roundabout and replaced it with traffic lights to improve safety. Plans are underway to construct an overpass connecting National Highway 51 with Võ Nguyên Giáp Road at this intersection, as part of a larger project along National Highway 51, with an estimated budget of over 16 trillion VND.
