Explosion in Phu Tho Leaves One Dead and Three Injured

A tragic incident unfolded in Phu Tho province on August 29, 2026, when a powerful explosion in a rental room led to the death of a young man and left three others seriously injured. The explosion occurred around 1:10 PM in a lodging facility located in Phuc Khai village, Binh Xuyen district.

Residents reported hearing a loud blast, which resulted in extensive damage to several rental rooms. Debris, including parts of walls and furniture, was scattered across the area, some pieces flying as far as tens of meters away. Upon discovering the injured individuals, locals quickly called for emergency medical services and notified the authorities.

In response to the incident, two deputy directors of the Phu Tho Provincial Police arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation and coordinate rescue efforts. The aftermath revealed numerous remnants of fireworks, including yellow powder suspected to be sulfur and black powder believed to be explosive materials.

The police suspect that the explosion was linked to the illegal production of fireworks. Initial assessments indicated that one young man died at the scene, while three others were rushed to Vinh Phuc General Hospital for urgent medical care. Additionally, three rental rooms on the fourth floor were severely damaged, along with other rooms and the shared roof of the lodging facility.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to clarify the involvement of those connected to the incident and to determine the origins of the materials used in the illegal fireworks production.
