A devastating explosion occurred on August 29 at a dormitory in Phu Tho, resulting in the death of one individual and serious injuries to three others. The explosion took place at approximately 1:10 PM in a facility owned by Pham Thi Thuy, located in Phuc Khai village, Binh Xuyen commune.

The dormitory, which has been operating since 2025, consists of around 40 rooms across multiple floors. The initial blast originated from room 404 on the fourth floor, causing extensive damage to that room as well as to adjacent rooms 403 and 405. The impact of the explosion also affected nearby rooms and distorted the metal roof in the parking area on the first floor, according to the Phu Tho Provincial Police.

Tragically, a young man was pronounced dead at the scene, while three other young men suffered severe injuries, with their bodies and faces disfigured. Those injured were rushed to Vinh Phuc General Hospital, where they remain in a coma and unable to communicate.

Following an investigation of the scene, authorities determined that the explosion was caused by the victims' attempts to create homemade fireworks. The handling of these materials led to the catastrophic blast.
