On July 31, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting in Vietnam issued a warning about the likelihood of heavy rainfall across northern provinces, including Da Nang. This weather event is expected to bring significant rainfall, leading to localized flooding.

According to the forecast, areas in the north and central regions, as well as the southern provinces, should be prepared for thunderstorms and heavy rain. Rainfall in some areas may exceed 100 mm within a short period, posing risks of flash floods and landslides.

In the early hours of July 31, various regions experienced rain, with some areas recording substantial amounts. For instance, Quang Ha in Quang Ninh reported 119.8 mm of rain, while Nga Son in Thanh Hoa saw 67.6 mm. The forecast indicates that rainfall in the northern provinces could range from 10 to 35 mm, with isolated areas experiencing over 100 mm of rain.

From Thanh Hoa to Nghe An, moderate rainfall is expected, with totals between 20 and 50 mm, and some areas may receive more than 110 mm. In the region from Ha Tinh to Da Nang, scattered showers are anticipated, with rainfall amounts reaching up to 80 mm.

The Central Highlands and southern provinces will also see scattered showers, with rainfall amounts between 10 to 30 mm. Residents are advised to remain vigilant due to the potential for strong winds, lightning, and hail during thunderstorms.

Furthermore, the forecast warns of strong winds in coastal areas, particularly as Super Typhoon Dolphin approaches. While there are currently no indications that the typhoon will move into the East Sea, its presence may affect wind patterns in the region. From August 5 onward, as the typhoon nears Taiwan, the southwest winds in the South China Sea could intensify, with wave heights reaching 2 to 4 meters.

Residents are urged to stay updated on weather conditions and take necessary precautions against severe weather, especially in vulnerable areas prone to flooding and landslides.
