The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has predicted significant rainfall in northern Vietnam, particularly affecting seven provinces in the northeastern mountainous region. Starting from the evening of July 27, areas including Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, and Son La are expected to experience heavy rain ranging from 50 to 120mm, with some localized areas receiving over 250mm.

In the preceding days, regions such as the Northwest and Central Highlands have already recorded substantial rainfall, with some areas experiencing over 60mm. For instance, Chiềng Muôn in Son La reported 99mm, while Nậm Chà in Lai Chau recorded 92mm. The forecast indicates that from July 27 to July 28, the rainfall will intensify, particularly in the evening hours, with a risk of thunderstorms and heavy downpours.

In addition to the northern provinces, the Central Coast and Southern regions are also expected to face rainfall between 40 to 100mm, with isolated instances of exceeding 200mm. The meteorological agency has warned of potential natural disasters, including flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and urban areas.

As the weather system progresses, it is crucial for residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and prepared for possible disruptions caused by the expected heavy rain and thunderstorms.
