The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning regarding the weather conditions expected on the evening of July 20. The northeastern region, including provinces like Son La and Phu Tho, is forecasted to experience scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain, with some areas potentially receiving rainfall exceeding 70mm.

As of July 20, the rainfall recorded from 7 AM to 5 PM has already reached significant levels, with monitoring stations reporting over 50mm in certain areas. For instance, Dong Phong 3 in Thai Nguyen recorded 72mm, while Nam Xay 2 in Lao Cai reported 60.6mm.

The forecast indicates that the northeastern provinces, including Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, and Hanoi, will see rain ranging from 10 to 30mm, with isolated areas experiencing heavy downpours exceeding 70mm.

There is a risk of severe weather phenomena such as whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong winds. The risk level for natural disasters due to these conditions is categorized as level 1. The heavy rain and thunderstorms may impact agricultural production, causing tree falls, damage to homes, and disruptions to transportation and infrastructure.

Moreover, localized heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas. Residents in the affected regions are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
