Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Tonight
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning for scattered thunderstorms

Meteorological authorities have issued a warning regarding heavy rainfall expected tonight and tomorrow, particularly in the provinces of Lai Châu, Điện Biên, and northern Sơn La. Rainfall in these areas is projected to exceed 100mm in some locations.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the southern region of Vietnam experienced scattered showers today, with some areas experiencing heavy rain. Rainfall recorded from 7 AM to 3 PM today included over 40mm in various stations, such as 69.6mm in Đầm Rơi (Cà Mau) and 56mm in Phường 8 (Cà Mau).
For the mountainous and midland regions of northern Vietnam and Quảng Ninh province, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected tonight and tomorrow, with rainfall ranging from 15 to 30mm, and localized areas may see over 70mm. Specifically, Lai Châu, Điện Biên, and northern Sơn La are forecasted to receive between 20 to 40mm of rain, with isolated areas experiencing heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm. The rain is expected to occur predominantly at night, early morning, and late afternoon.
The Central Highlands and southern regions are also predicted to have scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight, with rainfall between 10 to 30mm, and some areas may see heavy rain exceeding 70mm.
Authorities have warned of the potential for heavy rain with accumulations exceeding 80mm in a three-hour period. Thunderstorms may also bring risks of whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong winds. The risk level for natural disasters due to these conditions is classified as level 1.
This heavy rainfall could adversely affect agricultural production, damage trees, and harm infrastructure, including homes and transportation systems. Additionally, localized heavy rain may lead to flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.
