Gold Prices Drop Significantly on August 27, 2026

On August 27, 2026, gold prices experienced a significant downturn, affecting both domestic and global markets. By 9:00 AM, the price of SJC gold bars was listed at 147-150 million VND per tael, reflecting a decrease of 600,000 VND for both buying and selling prices. The price spread between buying and selling was set at 3 million VND per tael.

Similarly, DOJI reported SJC gold prices at the same range of 147-150 million VND per tael, also down by 600,000 VND. Meanwhile, Bảo Tín Minh Châu listed SJC gold at 148.4-152.4 million VND, marking a drop of 1.6 million VND per tael.

In terms of gold rings, Phú Quý priced them at 147-150.5 million VND (down 600,000 VND for buying and 500,000 VND for selling), while DOJI offered prices at 148.9-152.9 million VND, down by 1.1 million VND. Bảo Tín Minh Châu also reported a drop of 1.6 million VND for gold rings, pricing them at 148.4-152.4 million VND.

Globally, gold was priced around 4,640.8 USD per ounce, reflecting a decrease of 15.8 USD. This decline is attributed to persistent inflation pressures in the U.S., which have led to rising bond yields and a stronger U.S. dollar, diminishing gold's appeal in the short term.

Market analysts are closely monitoring the upcoming speech by the Federal Reserve Chair at the Jackson Hole conference, which is expected to influence future monetary policy and could lead to increased volatility in gold prices. If the Fed signals a cautious approach towards easing monetary policy, the dollar and bond yields may continue to exert pressure on gold. Conversely, indications that the Fed prioritizes growth support could provide a boost to gold prices.

Technical analysis suggests that the 4,640 USD per ounce level is a critical resistance point for upward trends. If this level is surpassed, gold could aim for higher targets around 4,673 USD and 4,698 USD per ounce. However, if selling pressure increases, the support level near 4,573 USD per ounce will be crucial to watch, as breaking this could lead to deeper corrections down to 4,545 USD or even 4,500 USD.

Investors are advised to consider their financial capabilities, personal goals, and associated risks before making any gold trading decisions.
