Driverless Motorcycle Spotted on Chinese Highway

A driverless motorcycle was recently spotted on a highway in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, China, creating a buzz among motorists and social media users alike. The video, which lasts for one minute and twenty-two seconds, shows the motorcycle moving along the right shoulder of the highway before gradually shifting into the main lane, forcing other vehicles to swerve to avoid it.

The incident occurred on July 14, and the driver who recorded the video initially questioned whether the motorcycle was lost. The driver expressed disbelief at the sight, asking, "Is this a motorcycle without a rider? What does this mean? Is it a driverless vehicle?" As the motorcycle continued its journey, it veered from right to left, colliding with the highway's median but maintaining its balance and continuing to navigate back to the right lane.

The astonishing balance of the motorcycle, which appeared to be the Zhang Xue 820RR model, left many viewers in disbelief. The video quickly gained traction online, prompting the manufacturer, Zhang Xue Motorcycles, to share the footage on their social media account later that evening. They expressed concern for the motorcycle's owner, who was later found to be in the hospital with a broken bone but in stable condition.

Experts in motorcycle dynamics noted that such balance is typically seen in sportbikes designed for stability. The Zhang Xue 820RR, a high-performance motorcycle introduced on March 21, 2026, features a water-cooled, inline three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 819cc, generating a maximum power output of 135 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.81 seconds, with a price range of approximately 43,800 to 61,980 yuan (6,470 to 9,160 USD).

Due to its high power output, the manufacturer has stated that the 820RR is not suitable for novice riders, and individuals with less than a year of riding experience are prohibited from purchasing this model. The motorcycle is equipped with advanced features, including fully adjustable front and rear suspension, aluminum alloy wheels, and a sophisticated braking system designed for optimal performance.

On March 28, the racing version of the 820RR, known as the 820RR-RS, achieved victory at the World Superbike Championship round in Portugal, further showcasing the capabilities of this impressive machine.
