Authorities in Tuyen Quang province are currently investigating an incident involving a private car that allegedly failed to yield to an ambulance, leading to the death of a patient. The incident occurred on the evening of July 15 on National Route 4C, between Yen Minh and Quan Ba.
According to the head of the Traffic Police Department, the investigation was prompted by reports circulating on social media, which included images of the ambulance transporting a critically ill patient. The footage showed a seven-seater vehicle with license plate number 23A-093.xx driving ahead of the ambulance and not yielding the right of way.
The police official confirmed that they became aware of the situation on the morning of July 16 and have since dispatched personnel to gather more information. They assured that updates will be provided once the investigation yields official findings.
The social media post accompanying the video detailed that during the incident, it was raining, and the road conditions were slippery. The vehicle in front did not reduce speed or yield, preventing the ambulance from overtaking. Medical staff accompanying the patient reportedly had to use an Ambu bag for artificial ventilation to try to sustain the patient's life, but unfortunately, the patient did not survive on the way to the hospital.
This case highlights the critical importance of yielding to emergency vehicles, as failure to do so can have dire consequences. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging drivers to be more vigilant and considerate of emergency services on the road.
