On June 20, a car driver identified as P.V.D., born in 1978 and residing in Hanoi, was penalized for illegally overtaking a truck on Liên Mạc Road. This maneuver not only violated traffic regulations but also resulted in significant traffic congestion in the opposite direction.
The Hanoi Traffic Police reported that the driver was caught on camera by a witness, who later submitted the footage to the authorities. Following the investigation, P.V.D. was summoned to the police station where he admitted to his wrongdoing.
As a consequence of his actions, P.V.D. faced a fine of 5 million VND and a deduction of 2 points from his driving license. The incident occurred around 2 PM when the red car, with license plate number 29E-578.xx, attempted to overtake a truck incorrectly. This action forced oncoming traffic to come to a halt.
According to the witness, a truck driver named Sáo, the red car encroached into the opposite lane just as a bus was approaching. The bus driver, adhering to traffic rules, refused to yield, which compelled P.V.D. to reverse his vehicle to avoid a collision, further exacerbating the traffic situation.
The Traffic Police have urged all drivers to strictly follow traffic regulations regarding overtaking, emphasizing the importance of ensuring safety and clear visibility before making such maneuvers.
