Taxi and Truck Plunge into Field After Collision
A high-speed taxi collided with a truck at an intersection, causing both vehicles to plunge into a field.

A serious accident occurred on June 19 on Nhat Tan Bridge in Hanoi, where a concrete mixer truck collided with a motorcycle in a lane designated exclusively for motorcycles, leading to the death of the motorcyclist at the scene.
According to legal expert Quach Thanh Luc, the incident raises significant legal concerns regarding the violation of traffic regulations. Under the 2024 Road Traffic Safety Law, all road users must adhere to designated lanes and traffic signals. The law explicitly states that vehicles not permitted in a specific lane must not enter it.
In this case, the accident took place in a lane clearly marked for motorcycles, and the truck driver's entry into this lane constitutes a violation of Article 13 of the Road Traffic Safety Law. Given the fatal outcome, investigators will look into the potential criminal liability of the truck driver under Article 260 of the 2015 Penal Code, which addresses violations of traffic regulations.
If found criminally liable, the driver may face fines ranging from 30 to 100 million VND, non-custodial rehabilitation for up to three years, or imprisonment for one to five years. Additionally, the driver will be required to compensate the victim's family for the loss of life.
Legal experts indicate that liability may only be waived if the accident was entirely the fault of the victim or due to an unavoidable event. In all other cases, whether the fault lies solely with the driver or is shared, criminal responsibility will still be considered.
