Vũ Hoàng Hải, popularly known as Hải Sapa TV, along with his wife Bùi Thị Kim Tuyên, was arrested on August 24 in Lào Cai. The couple, along with Phạm Văn Hà, the director of a local company, is under investigation for fraud and serious accounting violations.

The investigation revealed that in 2022, Hải exploited his social media influence to direct his wife to sign contracts for selling a product called "spicy dried buffalo meat" produced by Hà's company. However, they falsely advertised it as a specialty from the Northwest region of Vietnam, despite it being made from frozen buffalo meat imported from India.

By 2025, Bùi Thị Kim Tuyên had purchased this product from Hà's company for a total of 30 billion VND to sell in the market. Hải, who is 40 years old, began his career as a tour driver in Sa Pa and started posting videos about local cuisine and life in the highlands on YouTube in 2011. His channel, Sapa TV, has garnered over 1.9 million subscribers, and he has millions of followers across various social media platforms, including 5.2 million on TikTok.

Hải is known for his close ties with other social media personalities like Huấn Hoa Hồng and Phú Lê. He has successfully combined content creation with business, focusing on selling local specialties through live-streaming sessions, generating significant revenue. It is reported that he possesses substantial wealth, including a prominent shophouse in the old city of Lào Cai.

In early 2025, Hải Sapa established a company based in Lào Cai, registering for various services including short-term lodging, travel agency operations, and wholesale of agricultural and animal products. Recently, several other TikTokers and internet personalities have also been arrested for various offenses, including Huấn Hoa Hồng and Phú Lê.
