Local Police Enhance Disaster Preparedness Awareness in Thanh Son

The police force in Thanh Son commune, Ninh Binh province, is actively working to improve community awareness and preparedness for natural disasters, particularly in response to the increasing risks posed by severe weather. Given the complex weather patterns and the potential for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, flooding, and landslides, the local police have implemented various outreach activities to educate residents on disaster risk reduction.

In collaboration with local authorities, the Thanh Son police have organized direct awareness campaigns in residential areas. They have installed warning signs in high-risk zones such as rivers, lakes, and areas prone to flooding. Additionally, they are leveraging community broadcasting systems and social media platforms, including Zalo groups, to disseminate timely information.

During these campaigns, police officers have advised residents to regularly monitor weather forecasts and alerts, secure their homes, trim trees that may pose hazards, and prepare essential supplies and medications for emergencies. They have also stressed the importance of avoiding dangerous areas, such as flooded roads and swift currents, especially during and after storms.

The police further urged the community to refrain from allowing children to play in or near water bodies during adverse weather conditions and to avoid taking shelter under large trees or structures that could collapse. They emphasized the need for residents to cut off electrical sources if flooding occurs and to follow evacuation instructions from local authorities during emergencies.

In addition to these educational efforts, the Thanh Son police maintain a ready response team to assist in rescue operations and ensure public safety during disasters. By promoting proactive measures and enhancing individual and family preparedness, the police aim to protect lives and property and foster a resilient community capable of facing unpredictable weather events.
