The investigation began in early May 2026 when the Criminal Investigation Department of Hung Yen Province received reports from citizens about the emergence of various websites and applications promoting online gambling. It was noted that several individuals in the province were regularly engaging in online gambling activities.

Recognizing the legal violations and the potential for increased crime rates, the police department reported to the provincial leadership and developed a plan to combat this issue. They mobilized resources and implemented various investigative measures to clarify the situation.

During the investigation, it was found that the suspects used mobile phones connected to the Internet to access numerous online gambling websites, creating accounts and linking bank accounts to deposit and withdraw money while participating in various gambling forms. The gambling activities were conducted under the guise of reward point conversions, with financial transactions managed through banking operations.

On June 25, 2026, after gathering sufficient evidence, the police executed a coordinated operation, arresting and charging the 15 suspects who reside in Hung Yen Province for their involvement in gambling activities.

During the searches of the suspects' residences, investigators seized numerous documents, electronic data, mobile phones, and other related materials to aid in the investigation.

The Criminal Investigation Department of Hung Yen Province is continuing its investigation to expand the case and clarify the roles of other individuals involved, ensuring strict legal action is taken against all offenders.
