New Tropical Depression Strengthens, Rainfall Expected to Increase

A new tropical depression has rapidly intensified off the coast, with forecasts indicating that many regions will experience increased rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days. According to the latest updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the system known as LPA 09h was monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has now strengthened into a tropical depression as of 4 AM on September 30.

The tropical depression is currently situated approximately 3,330 kilometers east of Central Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gusts up to 55 km/h. It is moving west-southwest at a speed of 10 km/h. Previous forecasts suggest that the system may continue to strengthen in the coming days.

The tropical depression is still far from the Philippines and outside of the PAR. The predicted path indicates that it will primarily move northwest before shifting northward, passing through the eastern Bonin Islands, including Ogasawara, before heading toward the southern seas of Japan.

In the meantime, weather conditions in the Philippines are expected to remain unstable, with thunderstorms forecasted across various regions due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). On September 30, areas such as Negros Island, the Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms. The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao regions may also see localized rain showers or thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience similar weather conditions due to local weather disturbances.
