On September 19, the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Council held a special session to elect a new Chairman for the People's Committee. With unanimous support, Nguyen The Manh, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, was elected to serve as the Chairman for the term 2026-2031.

During the opening of the session, Bui Van Luong, Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Council, announced that on September 18, the Politburo had decided to transfer Vương Quốc Tuấn, the former Chairman of the People's Committee, to another position. Subsequently, Nguyen The Manh was appointed to join the Provincial Party Committee and was nominated to take over as Chairman.

The Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Party Organization discussed and agreed on the necessary procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations. The session also included a formal process to relieve Vương Quốc Tuấn from his duties as Chairman due to his transfer.

In his acceptance speech, Nguyen The Manh expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Politburo, the Provincial Party Committee, and the council members. He emphasized the importance of maintaining administrative discipline and enhancing the effectiveness of state management in the province.

Looking ahead, Nguyen The Manh pledged to focus on socio-economic development, infrastructure investment, expediting key projects, attracting investment, and combating corruption to improve the living standards of the people.

Nguyen The Manh, born on July 24, 1972, in Hung Yen Province, holds a Master’s degree in Economics with a specialization in Finance and Credit. He has held various positions, including Deputy General Director of the General Department of Taxation and General Director of Vietnam Social Insurance before his recent appointment.
