On September 18, Vietnam welcomed two new ambassadors during an official ceremony presided over by Tô Lâm, the General Secretary and President of Vietnam. The event marked a significant step in strengthening Vietnam's diplomatic relations with other nations.

During the ceremony, Nguyễn Hoàng Anh, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, announced the appointment of Phạm Bình Đàm, the Head of the APEC 2027 National Secretariat, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Timor-Leste. Tô Lâm personally handed over the appointment decision to Phạm Bình Đàm, highlighting the trust placed in him by the Party and State.

Additionally, Nguyễn Văn Hiệu, Deputy Head of the Middle East and Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Angola, with concurrent responsibilities for Congo, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Cape Verde. Tô Lâm also presented the appointment decision to Nguyễn Văn Hiệu during the ceremony.

Tô Lâm congratulated both ambassadors, emphasizing their roles as representatives of Vietnam on the international stage. He noted that ambassadors embody the nation's prestige and interests, aligning with the foreign policy of the Party. He expressed hope that the new ambassadors would deepen Vietnam's relationships with the countries they are assigned to.

The General Secretary and President reaffirmed the Party and State's commitment to enhancing the institutional framework and conditions for diplomatic activities. However, he stressed that the ultimate effectiveness relies on the execution of these policies, particularly the role of ambassadors as the highest representatives of the country in frontline diplomatic efforts.

Tô Lâm expressed confidence that both ambassadors, with their qualities and capabilities, would fulfill their responsibilities effectively, contributing to maintaining a peaceful environment, protecting national interests, leveraging external resources and opportunities, and enhancing Vietnam's position on the global stage.
